Browns Mountain Charter Fishing For Blue Eye Cod
Charter Fishing for Blue Eye Trevalla (cod)
Another GREAT trip to Browns Mountain off Sydney today has resulted in smiles all round from crew and guests.
Departing Cronulla wharf at 4.30 am our guests settled down for a 1.5-hour sleep before we pulled out the Tuna lures and began to prepare to set our spread.
Unfortunately, no Tuna bites today although you need to be in it to win it !!
As normal, Browns Mountain greeted us from 2miles away with a fleet of trailer boats. Browns Mountain is a deep-sea reef that has multiple species of fish including gemfish, blue-eye trevalla cod, tuna and bass grouper. Winter season is generally the best time to catch these fish.
Switching on our electric reels - Shimano Beat Master 9000 - we prepared our bait.
Browns Mountain is approx 42km off the coast of Sydney and rises from a depth of 500m to 670m at its peak and every drop is like a lucky dip.
Today we caught 5 Blue-Eye Cod and 11 Gemfish.
Biggest Blue Eye Trevalla (cod) was 18kg and measures 112cm.
